Vienna, Va - August 3, 2010 - Intermarkets, Inc., the nation's leading independent advertising sales management firm for website publishers, awards Allyson Kelley, a graduate of Potomac Senior High School in Dumfries, VA, the third annual $5,000 Intermarkets-Lucido Journalism Scholarship.

“Selecting from the many passionate and talented applicants for this year's Intermarkets-Lucido Journalism Scholarship was not an easy task. We are very pleased to continue this scholarship tradition with a recipient like Allyson Kelley.”

- Kevin Lucido, Chief Executive Officer of Intermarkets

"I'd like to thank Intermarkets for providing me with this scholarship. It's a huge help toward my college education. And it gives me more confidence in my journalistic abilities," said Ms. Kelley. In her sophomore year, Ms. Kelley became a staff writer for her high school newspaper and rose to senior editor in her senior year.

Chosen for the scholarship in recognition of her outstanding academic achievements, well-written essays and writing samples, Ms. Kelley intends to study journalism at Fordham University in New York.

The scholarship is open only to students who attend a Virginia high school, and they must prove that they understand and value the enormous responsibility journalists have to get the facts straight from at least both sides of a story, without bias, and without malice.

Applicants are required to submit an essay that reviewed a current, published article and explain why it was biased and how it should be changed, a description of extracurricular activities and academic accomplishments, and writing samples.

"Selecting from the many passionate and talented applicants for this year's Intermarkets-Lucido Journalism Scholarship was not an easy task. We are very pleased to continue this scholarship tradition with a recipient like Allyson Kelley," said Kevin Lucido, Chief Executive Officer of Intermarkets. "Journalism has never had a greater need of reporters who are committed to honesty, integrity and fairness. Ms. Kelley demonstrated that she understands unbiased reporting."

The Northern Virginia Community Foundation manages the annual Scholarship.
